BENGALURU : Retired senior police officers opine that senior officers should have time to listen the grievance of their subordinates.
S T Ramesh, former DG & IGP said, “I believe that there are two kinds of grievances — one is real and second is imaginary. Senior officials should have uniformity in sanctioning leave to colleagues based on the necessity. Senior officers should not give any scope to any staff to feel that they are harassed.”
“Sometimes, these kind of issues come up due to lack of staff strength and every officer has to get prior sanction before going on leave. If there were any lapses, senior police officers have to understand the situation after discussing with the staff concerned and the officers. Instead of avoiding meeting the staff, seniors should spend at least five minutes hearing them,” Ramesh said.
Former DGP Shankar Bidari said, “Senior officers should empathise with their juniors and have to understand their situation. It is also the duty of senior officers to ensure welfare of his subordinates and it will create healthy atmosphere in the department.”
