Dr Aggarwal’s chamber was on the 4th floor of AIIMS teaching block. Post OPD sessions, he would offer counselling sessions and attend to patients who came knocking on his door.
The massive fire at the All India Medical Sciences that affected five floors in its teaching block was completely doused on Sunday.
After the fire broke out in the teaching block of the hospital, resident doctors, nurses and paramedical staff ensured that patients did not face inconvenience, hospital sources said.
The patients, who were temporarily transferred from AB Wing, are expected to be shifted back by Sunday, the hospital said.
According to a fire official, a call reporting the fire at AIIMS was received at 4.50 p.m on Saturday evening and fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot.
Several surgeries scheduled for Monday were postponed due to the non-functional Operation Theatre (OT) adjacent to the site of the fire, they said.
A call was received at 6.13 pm about the incident, following which 12 fire tenders were rushed to the spot, Chief Fire officer Atul Garg said.
