Measuring the Ease of Living Index will not be easy anymore. For, the government is looking to study two set of indices in the second round of the Index, which will rank 115 cities.
The new set of indices will serve to be a guiding framework for Indian cities to chart their pathway towards ease of living and enhancing municipal performance.
According to the Union Housing and Urban Affairs ministry, Andra Pradesh, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh were awarded the three best performing states under AMRUT.
The ranking, which was released by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on Monday, places Mangaluru at rank 41 among the 111 cities.
No cities in Kerala figured in the top 10 rank of the first Ease of Living Index released by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on Monday.
The seven cities are Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Greater Mumbai, Surat, Ahmedabad and New Delhi. This is the first such exercise undertaken by the ministry.
While Tirupati secured first place in social institutions category, Vijayawada stood eighth.
