MBBS students aspiring for a PG seat in private colleges after the first round of counselling can heave a sigh of relief.
Over a thousand candidates were called for counselling on Wednesday and among them 747 attended and 165 seats were allotted.
On Tuesday, 422 seats were allotted with 145 seats of them being given to service doctors and 277 to private doctors.
This 50% reservation to state students will come in the 42% seats given to private medical colleges, which is now called as Open category.
In the state, there are eight deemed-to-be medical universities of which four are sharing their seats with the government as they have got enhancement on the seats.
The ministry sanctioned eight seats in General Medicine (MD) for Government Theni Medical College.
