Sheena (24) was allegedly killed by her mother and media executive Indrani Mukerjea with the help of others in April 2012 and the body was burnt in a jungle in neighbouring Raigad district.
Indrani Mukerjea is currently lodged in the Byculla jail and facing trial in a CBI court for allegedly killing her daughter Sheena.
Mukerjea's High Court plea mentioned that the CBI does not have evidence against him and cites medical conditions for seeking bail.
The 65-year-old, who is in jail since his arrest by the CBI in 2015, was Sunday admitted to the state-run J J Hospital after he complained of chest pain.
Mukerjea, who was lodged at the Arthur Road Jail in Central Mumbai, had been complaining of chest pain for the last few days, a police official said.
In 2015, Indrani had refused to give her consent to the Central Bureau of Investigation to subject her to a lie-detector test.
Via video conferencing from Byculla jail, Mukherjee told a Delhi court that as an accused, she had not engaged an advocate to represent her.
According to the CBI, Indrani had called Peter at around 12.26 pm from a forest area in Pen in Raigad district, where Sheena's body was dumped, and informed him that they have found a 'good place'.
According to the CBI, Indrani was opposed to the relationship between Sheena, her daughter from an earlier relationship, and Rahul, Peter's son from an earlier marriage.
The witness, an MBA graduate, was working with the Mukerjea company INX Services from 2000 to 2007.
Sheena (24) was a child of Das and Indrani Mukerjea, who is the prime accused in the murder case.
Mukerjea is admitted in the CCU of the hospital after complaining of twitching, weakness and pain on the left side of the face along with decreased hearing ability.
As per the legal procedure prescribed for consensual divorce, Principal Judge Shailaja Sawant referred the couple to a counsellor.
The CBI court rejected Indrani's plea, saying she would be much safer inside the jail than outside. Releasing her would be prejudicial to the prosecution's case, noted the agency.
Patil had told the police and the CBI that he had seen prime accused Indrani Mukerjea and two others near the spot where Sheena Bora's burnt body was found.
