The five activists --Varavara Rao, Arun Ferreira, Vernon Gonsalves, Sudha Bharadwaj and Gautam Navlakha-- are under arrest at their respective homes since August 29.

The court had also questioned the activists’ arrests nine months after the violence between Dalits and upper castes at Bhima Koregaon.
Activist Sanjay Bhalerao, who claims to be a witness to the Bhima Koregaon violence, filed a criminal PIL in the HC seeking action against the policemen.
Professor M Haragopal, who condemned the arrest of revolutionary writer Varavara Rao, said that in a democratic country people have the right to express their views.
