KABUL: At least 12 people including two policemen and 10 militants were killed in a clash in Afghanistan's northern province of Kunduz on Tuesday, an official said.
"The clash erupted in outer sides of Dasht-e-Archi district on Tuesday after militants attacked a security forces' unit in the area. At least 10 militants were killed during the clash," Xinhua quoted district governor Sahd-u-din Sahdi as saying.
Two policemen and 15 militants were injured in the fighting, the governor said.
The district has been the scene of clashes over the past month as the security forces are trying to clear the area of Taliban militants.
The Taliban has recently intensified attacks as the militant group tries to take territory and consolidate its positions ahead of winter.
