MADRID: The Spanish nursing assistant affected by the Ebola virus, Teresa Romero, remains in stable but serious condition, hospital sources reported Friday.

Besides Romero, 13 others remain under observation at Madrid's Carlos III Hospital.

Another nurse under observation tested negative for the Ebola virus in the first test, and is currently waiting to receive the second test that would confirm whether or not she has been infected.

Late Thursday, seven people were hospitalised for observation while one was released.

Three people remain in the hospital's high-risk wing: the husband of the nurse, the attending physician who treated her first symptoms at the Alcorcon hospital, and a doctor who assisted the physician.

Hospital sources have confirmed that the fourth floor of Carlos III Hospital has been set up as a resting area for all medical staff working with Romero and the rest of people who have been admitted, while the fifth and sixth are reserved for the suspected cases.
