Man Arrested for Stabbing French Train Hero

But investigators found that the assailants did not know Stone was the hero who thwarted the attempted terrorist attack.

PARIS: A man accused of stabbing Spencer Stone, who saved passengers on a French train from an attempted terror attack in August, has been arrested, the media reported on Thursday.

James Tran, 28, was arrested on Wednesday for stabbing the airman three times on October 8 near a bar in California's state capital of Sacramento, Xinhua news agency reported.

Several other people were also questioned for the attack.

But investigators found that the assailants did not know Stone was the hero who thwarted the attempted terrorist attack on a Paris-bound passenger train this August.

Stone, National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos and college student Anthony Sadler were holidaying in Europe when they tackled Islamic extremist Ayoub El-Khazzani, who was carrying a Kalashnikov rifle, pistol and box cutter. Stone suffered a knife wound to the neck and a severely cut thumb when fighting with El-Khazzani.
