NEW YORK: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina and reviewed the progress of the last bilateral meet and expressed happiness over the manner in which the land boundary agreement had been implemented.
“It was a very good meeting between the two leaders as they reviewed the progress in bilateral event when they last met. The leaders also expressed great happiness over the implementation of the land boundary agreement,” MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup told media here.
“They look forward to the complete implementation of the agreement in the coming months,” he added.
Swaroop also said that there was a discussion on connectivity and infrastructure, in particular the Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal (BBIN) model for which an agreement has also been signed.
“There was also a discussion on sustainable development goals, the prime Minister said that we are very happy that the sustainable development goals have enshrined the poverty elevation in their core, which is exactly what was needed,” he added.
Swaroop also said that the two leaders also had a discussion on the United Nation Security Council where Sheikh Hasina said she fully supports India’s position in UNSC.
“There was also a discussion on the reforms on the other institutions of the global governance such as IMF and World Bank,” he added.
