Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf documents have no link to Panama Leaks case, says Pak SC

Pakistan Supreme Court Justice Azmat Saeed, who was hearing the proceedings related to the Panama Leaks case by PTI  have no link to it.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Supreme Court Justice Azmat Saeed, who was hearing the proceedings related to the Panama Leaks case on Tuesday said, documents submitted by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have no link to it.

“The documents also include newspaper clippings. The petitioner himself has buried the truth,” Geo News quoted Justice Azmat as saying.

Justice Azmat asked PTI lawyer Hamid Khan, “Why are they wasting the court's time with tales from the Arabian Nights? Can we announce a death sentence over a newspaper story which says Allah Ditta killed Allah Rakha?"

Maintaining that it will not be investigating corruption, the top court said, "If someone has done corruption, the lower courts can take care of it."

Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali also expressed his displeasure over the documents submitted by the PTI which consisted of 686 pages.

Asserting that he wanted to keep the focus on the London flat and on the many documents submitted in the court, Chief Justice Jamali said, "We wanted to give the verdict in two or three days, but we have received too many documents."

He said they might not be able to give a verdict in six months as it was difficult to differentiate between real and fake documents.

The apex court adjourned the hearing till November 17.
