Peshawar suicide blast leaves at least two killed, 18 injured

The blast occurred in Hayatabad area of Peshawar in Pakistan when a suicide bomber hit a government vehicle, sources said.

PESHAWAR: At least two people were killed and 18 others injured today when a motorcyle-borne suicide bomber struck a government vehicle in this restive northwestern Pakistani city.

The blast occurred in Hayatabad area of Peshawar when a suicide bomber hit a government vehicle, police was quoted as saying by Geo News. At least two people were killed and 18 injured in the suicide attack.

The blast happened as officials from the provincial government were expected to inaugurate the Out Patient Department (OPD) at the Hayatabad Medical Complex, Dawn News reported.

Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and other senior party leaders were expected to attend the ceremony. This was the third terrorist attack in Pakistan today.

At least six persons, including four security personnel, were killed when two Taliban suicide bombers attacked the Mohmand Agency headquarters in the northwest tribal region. Following this, another suicide bomber blew himself in Mosal Kor, Mohmand Agency, police said. The incident comes barely two days after a suicide blast claimed by the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar faction of the banned Pakistan Tehreek-i-Taliban (TTP) ripped through the camp of protesting chemists in front of the Punjab Assembly in Lahore, that killed 13 people.
