UNITED NATIONS: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres today condemned the terror attack that killed seven Amarnath pilgrims in Kashmir, his spokesperson said, asserting that he was closely looking at the situation.

Seven Amarnath pilgrims, most of them women, were killed and 19 others injured in the terrorist attack in south Kashmir's Anantnag district late last night. The bus, bearing Gujarat registration number, was on its way from Baltal to Jammu when the attack took place.

"The deaths of civilians... is to be condemned in any situation," Guterres' spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said at the daily press briefing here in response to a question about the Secretary-General's comments on the attack. When asked about his response to the fact that the attack was reportedly masterminded by a Pakistan-based militant leader, Dujarric said he would only comment on the deaths of civilians. "We are obviously looking more closer to exactly what happened," he added.
