The British cabinet has agreed to pursue a "UK-EU free trade area" for goods, Prime Minister Theresa May announced on Friday following marathon talks with her cabinet.

"Today in detailed discussions the Cabinet has agreed our collective position for the future of our negotiations with the EU," she said in a statement after a day-long summit with ministers.
