CHENNAI: There are hours still left for the US presidential election, but predictions are already out: a fish in Chennai that had successfully predicted Team India’s victory in the ICC World Cup 2014 has ‘spoken’ in favour of Republican candidate, Donald Trump.

In an event in Chennai on Tuesday morning organised by an NGO, city-based NGO Indian Community Welfare Organisation (ICWO), Chanakya II, the ornamental flowerhorn fish, was to choose between two options, the outspoken billionaire or career politician and Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton. The flowerhorn apparently took a liking towards the more colourful among the lot.

This is the version two of the fish trick. The first of the Chanakyas had predicted India’s victory in 2012 T20 World Cup, while this one had predicted India’s 2014 World Cup win.

The creature oracles made the entry with Paul the Octopus that predicted 2010 football World Cup with 100% accuracy that hogged global headlines.

The outfit in Chennai joined the bandwagon with the fish in 2014. The event today, according to its founder-secretary, AJ Hariharan, is to spread awareness about mosquito menace. “There are 2.7 million people die by malaria annually in the world.  In 2020, it is estimated that 36% of the world population are at risk of getting malaria. Mosquito causes malaria, dengue, chikungunya, zika fever, and recently WHO declared mosquito is the public enemy. Based on this, ICWO take up this social message and incorporated in Tuesday’s fish prediction event,” he claimed.
