BANGALORE: A rowdy was hacked to death in broad daylight in L R Nagar in Viveknagar police station limits on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Raja alias Micheal Raja (42), a resident of L R Nagar. According to police, Raja was riding a twowheeler in the morning. As he reached a road over stormwater drain near L R Nagar slum, a gang of five to six miscreants attacked him with weapons and fled. Raja, who suffered fatal injuries in the incident, died on the spot, the police said.

Raja was a rowdy sheeter in Adugodi police station and had turned into a financier. He was an accused in a murder case and had come out of jail recently on bail. His brother Kannan, an accused in murder case of one Loki, is also an undertrial in the central prison. Kannan's enemies could have executed this murder in a revenge for Loki's murder, the police suspected. Viveknagar police have registered a case and have launched a search operation for the miscreants.

Woman killed

A 34yearold woman was killed in a road mishap in front of Jakkur Aerodrome near Yelahanka on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as Bheemamma, a resident of Judicial Layout in Yelahanka.

According to the police, Bheemamma, who hails from Gulbarga, worked in a dhaba near Yelahanka. While she was returning home after work, an unknown vehicle hit her and sped away, killing her on the spot, the police said. Yelahanka traffic police have registered a case.

Cyclist dies in accident

In another case, a cyclist was killed on the spot when an SUV ran over him near Dhanush Granites on Sarjapur Main Road, on Monday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Nagareddy(45), a peasant and resident of Soolakunte Village.

According to police, while Nagareddy was returning home on his cycle, a speeding Innova car hit the cycle from behind, killing him on the spot. The SUV driver left the vehicle and fled the spot, the police said.

Whitefield police have registered a case.
