Two district judges elevated to High Court

KOCHI: District Judges A V Ramakrishna Pillai and Babu Mathew P Joseph  have been elevated as Kerala High Court judges.  A notification in this regard was issued by President Prathibha Patil on Tuesday. The Union Law Ministry will complete the appointment proceedings soon.

A V Ramakrishna Pillai and Babu Mathew are currently serving as High Court Registrar General and Wayanad District Judge respectively.

Ramakrishna Pillai, a native of  Muthukulam, started practice as a  junior to noted criminal lawyer the late M N Sukumaran Nair before being appointed District Judge in 1995.  He has served in Paravoor, Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram courts. In 2003, he was appointed Registrar of HC and later Register General.

Ramakrishna Pillai, the son of   freedom fighter Velyudhan Pillai, is married to Lakshmi. They have two sons,  Adv Jayakrishnan and Sreekrishnan.  Babu Mathew, born to Joseph Pandarapparampil and Elizabeth Ponnarimangalam, began his career as a junior to former Adv General C P Sudhakara Prasad and later became district judge at Thrissur, Kozhikode and Mancheri.
