KOCHI: The 1973 Santosh Trophy-winning Kerala team and prominent footballers from Ernakulam were honoured at the Regional Sports Centre (RSC) in Kadavanthra on Friday.
The event was held as part of the valedictory function of the Pressuca-2014, a football contest for media houses organised by the Ernakulam Press Club in association with the District Football Association and RSC. In the event, 1960 Rome Olympians Simon Sunder Raj and O Chandrasekharan, 1973 team assistant manager M L George, players T K S Mani (captain), T A Jaffer (vice-captain), M O Jose, D Devanand, M Mittran, P P Prashantan, C C Jacob, V Blassey George, A Najimuddin, K P Williams, Victor Manjilla, M K Koshi, P Poulose, N K Itti Mathew, N Babu Nair, G Ravindran Nair, A Xaviou Pious and FIFA referee Bental D’Couth among others were honoured. Disrict Collector M G Rajamanickam, GCDA chairman N Venugopal, mayor Tony Chammany, and deputy mayor B Bhadra were present at the event.
