THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The annual festival of Kelamangalam Sree Mahavishnu Temple, Keraladityapuram, which is known as the Guruvayur of the South, will be held from Wednesday.
A highlight of the festival, as in previous years, is the Thyagaraja Aradhana and Pancharatnakeerthana recital to be held on February 20, the fifth day of the festival. The day’s function will be inaugurated by actor Suresh Gopi and presided over by K Jayakumar, Additional Chief Secretary. Singer G Venugopal will be the chief guest. M Rajagopalan Nair, president, Travancore Devaswom Board, and K C Sasidhar, Chief General Manager, NABARD, will be the other guests at the function, which is being organised by Sarangi School of Music in the city. The school has been holding Thyagaraja Aradhana and Pancharatnakeerthana recital as part of the festival for the last three years. Over 100 musicians will be part of the ‘keerthana’ recital, the organisers said.
The school has been honouring musicians as part of the temple festival. This time, it will honour ten musicians, Ananthalakshmy Venkitaraman, Palakkad C S Moorthy, Thiruvananthapuram B Surendran, Dr K Omanakutty, Palkulangara Ambika Devi, Cherthala Ramachandran, Perumbavur G Ravindranath, Prof Kilimanoor Thyagarajan, R Subbalakshmy and M Jayadevan.
The festival at the temple, which is believed to have been constructed 1,500 years back, will conclude on February.
