The son of Madan Patel, is all set to appear on the silver screen with the film 'Slum' which is an underworld story.

Mayur Patel, son of Madan Patel, is all set to  appear on the silver screen in a new avatar. The muhurat function for his latest film Slum will be held today at

Sri Kanteerava Studios.

Murthy, president of Akhila Karnataka Dalitha Hindulidavarga Vedike, will make his debut in Sandalwood with Slum. Apart from providing finance for Slum, Murthy has been assigned to play a key role in this film. According to director M Mahesh Kumar, Neha Patil, who had to drop Sankranthi due to reasons best known to her, is paired with Murthy while Disha Poovaiah from Coorg will play the role of Patel’s lover.

“The story revolves around Surya, Lucky, Ushe and Manasa. This will be an unexpected and unbelievable underworld story,’’ says Mahesh Kumar with a smile. Two years ago, Mahesh Kumar made his debut as director with Aa that was given ‘A’ certificate by the Regional Censor Board who also suggested that the length of the film should be reduced by 200 feet and four dialogues muted.

“It was screened for two weeks at Menaka theatre in 2010. I was not in a position to convince the then Regional Censor Board officer Chandrasekhar. I wanted to protest but the producer prevented me from doing so,’’ recalls Mahesh Kumar.

Stating that Slum will have all the ingredients that are must to entertain the audience, he further said, “Alisha from Mangalore who acted in Jedarahalli and Bete will be performing

an item number.”

Shooting of this film is expected to be completed in 40 days. “Its shooting will be held at Koolinagara, Yeshwanthpur and Gavipuram Guttahalli slums. We have also planned to shoot in and around Mysore for five days,’’ said

the director.

After completion of the talkie portion, the unit members of Slum are expected to go to Alleppey for a song shoot. “Murthy and Neha Patil will shoot the romantic number, ” said.

Achyuth Rao, Shobharaj, Harish Rai, Patre Nagaraj, Gururaj Hoskote and Manju Nagavara are the other artistes in this film. Selvam, who worked as cinematographer for Komal’s film Radhikana Ganda, has been assigned to work behind the camera for this film.

Hemanth Kumar makes his debut as the music director while Harish Korpadi is the editor. Revan Nayak has penned down the lyrics for the songs.
