HYDERABAD: South Indian film actress Vimala Raman may be a popular face in Tamil and Malayalam cinema but she definitely has not got her due when it comes to good roles in movies.

The actress is ready to make an impact on Telugu cinema with a heroine-oriented role. The film hasn’t been named yet.

Not only will the Tollywood project see Vimala Raman in an important role for the first time in her career of four years, the Telugu film will also mark the debut of Suryadevara Prabhakar as director.

The director says that the film is going to be a thriller.

2011 is also the year of thrillers for Vimala Raman. While her ambitious Tollywood project is set to go on floors, the actress is also starring in ‘Dam 999’, the multilingual film that is being made in English, Hindi and Malayalam. Ashish Vidyarthi and Joshau Frederic Smith star in the film. ‘Dam 999’ will hit the theatres in April this year.
