Tashu Kaushik may be just one-film-old in Mollywood, but the actress is all gung-ho about her stint, which she considers a welcome break from her routine glam-oriented avatars. “It’s an amazing industry and the one space I always longed to be. All the artists and technicians here are thorough professionals. I really look forward to a very long association with the industry,” says the actress who debuts in Malayalam through Rajesh Nair’s ‘Annum Innum Ennum’.
Though a multi-starrer, the film has Tashu in a crucial role and the actress says she is immensely excited about the way her character has shaped up. “In the film I play a simple and spirited girl. The core concept of the movie is that we are all selfish in our own ways, but the biased disposition may look genuine from our individual angle. Right now I am keeping my fingers crossed for the release of ‘Annum Innum Ennum’,” says the actress who has many Telugu and Kannada offers up her sleeves.
The Mumbai-based actress, who entered tinselville through a Bollywood film produced under the RVG banner, feels Malayalam is the toughest Indian language. “But I used to get all my Malayalam lines without much hassle, thanks to the team of AIE,” she says.
Tashu, who has done downright commercial flicks in Telugu, says she yearns to be part of offbeat Malayalm projects. “I want to grow as an actor. With every movie I want to improve myself and learn something new. I think that’s one reason I am here. I want people to talk about my performance, not glamour,” she says. Tashu, who has ventured into almost all south Indian languages, says she has a soft spot for Mollywood films. “But that doesn’t mean that I will reject all glam-girl roles coming my way since acting is my profession,” she is quick to add.
