The Censor Board of Film Certification seems to have insisted on a lot of axing for the film Mayanginen Thayanginen (MT). The censor officials have asked the filmmaker, debutant Vendhan, to make 100 cuts in the movie apart from 10 mutes in the dialogues in order to get a U certificate, according to the filmmakers.
Mayanginen Thayanginen features actors Nithin Sathiya, Tarun Kshatriya, Ganga Karuppu and a new comer Bala in lead roles. Ajay Ratnam and Teja Shree play important roles in the movie. Even as the film tracks the life of the happy-go-lucky youngsters, it does carry a serious story and conveys a message, according to the filmmaker.
The director says he has attempted to portray the negative side of not-for-profit organisations dealing with mentally challenged persons. “The censor officials had said they would give the film an A certificate. If we were to get a U certificate, the officials said cuts had to be made at 100 places in the movie, and the dialogues muted in 10 instances. We have made these cuts and have ensured that the message it is intended to convey is not lost. The movie is set to hit over 150 screens on June 1.
