UP government mulls to develop Garhmukteshwar into tourist destination

UP Chief secretary Rajiv Kumar on Friday directed the concerned officials to chalk out a roadmap for developing Garhmukteshwar as a major religious and tourism destination at Hapur.

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Rajiv Kumar on Friday directed the concerned officials to chalk out a roadmap for developing Garhmukteshwar as a major religious and tourism destination at Hapur district in the state.

He laid emphasis on developing Mela area, keeping in view the sanctum sanctorum of Garhmukteshwar pilgrim centre.

"The related area should be declared as a green belt and directed to prepare a developing action plan for it", he added.

Mr Kumar also asked the officials to ensure sufficient parking arrangements in the mela area along with the maintenance of the Ganga Ghat and to develop them as permanent ghats. He also directed to mark the places of worship for the pilgrims visiting the Ganga river as per need.

He said to pacify the various schemes running by the UP government to promote tourism and to attract tourist in the state.

Principal Secretary, Tourism Avnish Kumar Awashthi, District Magistrate, Hapur and other concerned senior officers were also present during the meeting.
