G V Raja award announced

International athlete Anilda Thomas and  International Shuttle Badminton  player Roopesh Kumar were selected for  this year’s G V Raja award for  the best performance in sports .

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  International athlete Anilda Thomas and  International Shuttle Badminton  player Roopesh Kumar were selected for  this year’s G V Raja award for  the best performance in sports . The award instituted by the Kerala Sports Council  comprises  a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh,   a plaque and a citation.   Football coach Gabriel E Joseph  has been selected for the  Olympian Sureshbabu  life time achievement award.  He will get a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, a plaque and a citation.  

Sports and Industries  Minister A C Moideen  announced  the awards. Fr Joy P T  of Christ College, Irinjalakkuda,  was selected for the best physical education teacher award. He will get a cash prize of  Rs 50,000,  a plaque and a citation. 

N S Sijin of HSS, Mundoor, is the best physical education teacher in the school category. He will also get a purse of Rs 50,000 , a plaque and a citation. Brennen College, Thalassery,  was adjudged the best college which made glittering achievements in the previous year. P J Jose of Mathrubhumi  Daily was selected as the best sports journalist. Musthafa  Abubecker  of Madhyamam Daily  is the best sports photographer.
