KENDRAPARA: Former MP and president of Utkal Bharat Kharabela Swain was attacked allegedly by BJD supporters on Wednesday at Aul in Kendrapara district. He was addressing a meeting at Aul as a part of his Odisha Bhagya Paribartan Yatra when the incident took place.

He filed a police complaint at the Kendrapara police station alleging that 30 BJD supporters abused and manhandled him and six of his supporters when he spoke against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the meeting. They also damaged his vehicle.

Swain, in the meeting, said Naveen and his party had benefitted the most from the multi-crore chit fund scam in the State. “Arrest of MLA Pravat Tripathy and MP Ramchandra Hansda is only tip of the iceberg. It is high time the State Government returned the hard-earned money of lakhs of people who invested in the chit fund schemes,” he said.Contacted, SP Niti Sekhar said investigation is on and all the accused persons would be arrested soon.
