RAJAHMUNDRY: Union minister of state for railways KH Muniyappa said that plans were afoot to create rail connectivity to each and every backward district in the country under the Prime Minister Railway Vikas Yojana by 2020.

In a press meet at Congress party office on the sidelines of a private function here Sunday, the minister said as part of the project a stretch of 25,000 km would be provided rail connectivity by the time.

Muniyappa said he will take steps to complete all the pending projects in the state in the next five years.

Briefing on the other projects, he said as many as 32 rail over bridges(ROBs) were sanctioned to the state of which the works of 10 were under progress.

Ahead of the coming Railway Budget session, The minister said that he would hold talks with all the chief ministers in the country on February 15 ahead of the railway budget and consider their proposals.

He promised that the proposed escalator at Rajahmundry railway station would be completed by April and construction of the fourth platform would be ready within six months, adding an additional platform would be constructed at Godavari railway station.

Muniyappa’s assurance to Weavers

Rajahmundry: Union minister of state for railways KH Muniyappa has said he will take a delegation of MPs and leaders of the weavers community to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and textiles minister Anand Sharma in March seeking solution to roblems of weavers.

Speaking at the national convention of the Devanga community on Sunday, the minister said he would urge chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to release pending `200 crore loan at the earliest.
