Lakshmipeta case: One remanded

The main accused in the Dalit killings at Lakshmipeta, Botcha Vasudeva Naidu has been remanded for 14 days by first class magistrate court here on Friday. The former president of Vangara madal parishad was arrested by the CBCID in Hyderabad on June 28.

Five Dalits died and  30 injured in a communal clash that broke out in Lakshmipeta on June 12 after which the two main accused, Botcha Vasudeva Naidu and Avula Srinivasa Rao absconded from the village. The CBCID swung into action and nabbed the duo. Srinivasa Rao was already produced in the court. The CBCID officials arrested 66 persons including Vasudeva Naidu and Srinivasa Rao in connection with the clash till  date.
