VISAKHAPATNAM: Chairman and managing director of HPCL Nishi Vasudeva has been honoured as Global CEO of the Year by Platts Global Energy Awards at a function held in New York. Nishi Vasudeva is the first CEO from the Indian Oil and Gas industry to be bestowed with the prestigious honour. She is also honoured by Platts as its 2015 Asia CEO of the Year, recently.
Energy companies from seven countries and three continents received honours for leadership, innovation and exemplary performance at the 17th Annual Platts Global Energy awards before an audience of 400 executives from across the globe.
As per the December issue of Platts ‘Insight’ magazine, Nishi Vasudeva has effectively turned around state-owned HPCL, delivering an increase of over 200 per cent in stock market value during her first year on the job.
Judges noted not only this leader’s sharp business acumen, but also her ability to smash the glass ceiling: Nishi Vasudeva is the first female head of a large Indian oil company and one of the only 14 women to helm a Global Fortune 500 company.
During her tenure, performance metrics have soared, share and market capitalisation have increased and the company reported record profits despite challenging market conditions.
The judges said that Nishi Vasudeva exhibited strategic marketing and effective financial management skills as well as consistent clarity of vision and sound judgment which will have an immediate impact on HPCL and create positive resonance throughout the energy community.
