HYDERABAD: The Andhra Prdesh government has decided to celebrate the ensuing Krishna Pushkarams in a grand manner by spending Rs 1,000 crore.
The 12-day Krishna Pushkarams, which occurs once in 12 years, will be held in the state from August 12 to 23.
A Cabinet panel headed by finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu met here on Thursday and chalked out an action plan to organise the mega event in a befitting manner.
“We have decided to spend an amount of Rs 1,000 crore on organising Krishna Pushkarams. We are taking all steps to celebrate the holy event in a flawless manner,” he said after the meeting.
According to him, Rs 318 crore has been allocated to the R&B department to lay roads leading to Pushkar ghats across the state, Rs 231 crore to the irrigation department to construct bathing ghats and Rs 231 crore to the panchayat raj department to take up other works.
“The Krishna Pushkarams will be organised in such a manner as to reflect the Telugu culture. The Krishna-Godavari Pavitra Sangamam will be developed as a tourist spot,” the minister said.
According to him, 229 bathing ghats are being constructed in the state to accommodate an expected rush of 3.50 crore pilgrims.
