Andhra Pradesh: Srikakulam engineer nabbed, Rs 16-cr assets found

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday raided houses and properties of G Srinivasa Kumar, 52, deputy executive engineer, Srikakulam Municipal Corporation, for amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. After a day-long search at 10 places in Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Bheemavaram and Palakollu, the ACB teams found assets worth a market value of `16 crore.

Addressing the media, director general of ACB RP Thakur said searches were held simultaneously at 10 places. The accused officer’s house is in Visakhapatnam and his family members and close associates are settled in other districts. Assets unearthed were in the name of the officer, his wife Rajeswari, daughter Mounika Devi, his mother Swarajyam, father-in-law Narayana Raju and mother-in-law Varalakshmi.
The officials unearthed a residential flat measuring 1,085 sq ft in North Extension, Seethammadhara in Visakhapatnam and agriculture land measuring 6.82 cent at Kovvali village in West Godavari district registered in the name of the tainted officer.

The assets that were registered in the names of his wife, daughter, mother and other relatives include, one house plot at Adavivaram village in Visakhapatnam, three vacant land sites at Bheemavaram in West Godavari district and agriculture land in Kovvali village in Denduluru mandal of West Godavari measuring about 24 cent. All the assets were seized. The officer also had two two-wheelers, 423 gms of gold, 1548 gms of silver, `12.27 lakh cash in house and Rs 5.45 lakh deposited in bank.
The officer, Srinivasa Kumar, had joined service in 1998 as works inspector in the GVMC.
Srinivasa Kumar will be produced before the ACB Special Court on Tuesday.
