BANGALORE: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has directed all district deputy commissioners to submit a report on the problems caused by natural calamities in the state recently that led to damange to lives, crops, property and livestock.
Speaking to reporters after a grievances meeting with the people, the chief minister said the recent pre-mosnoon downpour in parts of the state damaged crops, while there was drought in some other parts of the state leading to shortage of drinknig water.
“In this background, I have sought reports from all deputy commissioners,” the CM said, adding that action would be initiated based on the feedback from the districts.
Yeddyurappa said the government has made all arrangements to ensure that there was adequate and timely supply of seeds and pesticides to farmers.
“Some middlemen are trying to create confusion and there was no need to heed to such rumours,” he told farmers.
He also dismissed charges of former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy that `12.24 crore meant for Raitha Samparka kendras was misued.
“We have take up construction of Raitha Samparka kendras in 60 taluks. There are no irregularities in this,” he said, pointing out that only part of the total fund has been released.
Chiding the Opposition parties to wake up from slumber, he said they should point out the government’s mistakes instead of criticising whatever it did.
On the jananndolana by the JD(S), the CM sarcastically remarked that the former prime minister H D Deve Gowda had no option other but to take up such programmes for the next two years. “After that elections would come, we will face it,” he said.
