Realising a long-cherished dream of  Aluva natives, the KSRTC has taken up the project of renovating the existing Aluva bus station. An official team from Thiruvananthapuram paid a visit to the site of the station on Friday.

Chief Engineer R Indu said the team would prepare the layout and sketch all the facilities the station would require. The new plan is proposed to include a modern shopping complex in the terminal building.

As the first step, the garage and the depot will be transferred to a new building which is going to be built at the rear end of the 4-acre plot.  For building the new garage and depot, Anwar Sadat has promised `2 crore from his MLA fund.

The new station has been envisioned to provide modern facilities, including travellers waiting rooms. Twenty parking bays are proposed in the new terminal. The terminal, the shopping complex and the office complex would be housed in one building proposed to be set up in the centre of the 4-acre space.

The Chief Engineer said that a meeting would be held in Thiruvananthapuram to give nod to the project.
