Express News Service

KOTTAYAM:Certain individuals will be pinned down if a probe is launched to investigate the allegations raised against the 35th National Games, said Sports Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan here on Saturday.

He also said that the the funds allocated for the games were diverted to other projects. “The diversion of funds took place before my term. The preparations for the Games were commenced in 2011. The funds were allocated in the 2011 State Budget. So there is no point in criticising me for the expenditure,” he said. He also pointed out that the decisions were taken when K B Ganesh Kumar was the Sports Minister.

“The Games budget was signed by former Sports Ministers Ganesh Kumar and M  Vijayakumar. Not a single penny has been spent on my behalf,” he added. The minister earlier alleged that the funds were diverted into other projects like stadia renovation where no events are held.

He said that a probe will be launched once the Games is over. He also enlisted the projects to which the diverted funds are allocated.  He added that he is ready to face any investigation on the issue.

“The games executives were appointed before my term when the Games Society was formed in 2007. Also, the amount for inaugural ceremony was earmarked in the 2011 Budget,” he said.
