THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: International canoeing and kayaking champion Betty Joseph and hockey player P R Sreejesh have won the G V Raja Award instituted by the State Sports Council.Veteran athletics coach O M Nabmiar has been selected for the Olympian Suresh Babu Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award. He will be presented plaque, certificate and Rs 2 lakh cash prize.SAI’s boxing coach D Chandralal is the best sports trainer and Alphonsa College faculty Thankachan Mathew is the best sports teacher. They will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000 each and a certificate.
Shibi Mathew of Mar Basil Higher Secondary School won the award for best sports teacher in the school category and Assumption College, Changanassery, won the best performance award.
