BHUBANESWAR: The office of the chief electoral officer (CEO) today recommended to the Election Commission for repolling in nine polling stations in as many Assembly constituencies that went to the polls in the second phase.

However, the CEO office is yet to receive any complaint on alleged rigging in a polling station under Nayagarh Assembly constituency.

After receiving reports of disturbances like booth-capturing, rigging and violence during the second phase poll, the office of the CEO has recommended the EC for repolling in booth No. 41 of Tigiria Nizigarh under Athgarh Assembly constituency of Cuttack parliamentary seat, booth No. 21 at Koliathia under Mahanga Assembly constituency of Kendrapara parliamentary seat and booth No.23 at Sadangoi under Pipili Assembly constituency of Puri Lok Sabha seat.

Disturbances have been reported in one polling station each in Barchana, Dharmasala and Sukinda Assembly segments under Jajpur parliamentary constituency. Repolling has been recommended for booth No. 26 at Mukundapur under Dharmasal Assembly constituency, booth No.111 at Asia under Barchana Assembly segment and booth No. 159 at Rampilo under Sukinda Assembly constituency.

The other three polling stations where disturbances have been reported are booth No. 121 at Erancha under Niali Assembly constituency of Jagatsingpur parliamentary seat, booth No. 213 at Patilo under Ghasipura Assembly segment of Keonjhar Lok Sabha constituency and booth No. 212 at Badasarisa Sanadhaba under Bhograi Assembly constituency of Balasore parliamentary constituency.

Some private new channels are showing footages of alleged poll rigging in a booth under Nayagarh Assembly constituency. However, the CEO office said they have no such information.

Recommendation for repolling was made basing on the reports of returning officers and election observers. There independent poll observers were also appointed by the Election Commission.
