COIMBATORE: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has withdrawn the approval of two private engineering colleges, one in Coimbatore district and the other in Krishnagiri, for misrepresenting facts and submitting false documents while seeking approval.
One is the Indus College of Engineering in Alandurai, and the other is the Archana Institute of Technology in Thimmapuram, Krishnagiri. The students, who are currently studying in these institutions will now be moved to some other institutions.
Sources in the AICTE and Anna University said that the apex regulatory body has withdrawn the approval granted to Indus College of Engineering in Alandurai. The approval granted to the institution was withdrawn by the AICTE as the records submitted by the institutions were incorrect, said an Anna University official.
The Directorate of Technical Education will undertake the process of shifting the students who are presently studying in these institutions to neighbouring institutions, official said. The college will have a right to challenge this, and could seek legal remedy against the AICTE action, the official opined.
The AICTE has also cancelled the approval of Archana Institute of Technology in Thimmapuram, Krishnagiri.
The apex regulatory body has withdrawn its approval last year itself, after it was found that the private institution has forged some documents pertaining to its land, and approval for the building. But the college got a stay on the apex body’s decision.
Now, the AICTE has again withdrawn the approval granted to the institutions, AICTE sources confirmed.
The AICTE has written to the Anna University last week, informing the university about the apex regulatory body’s decision to cancel the approval given to these institutions.
