Jurisdiction of police units to change after reorganisation of districts

HYDERABAD: Jurisdiction of the state police administrative units will be changed after the reorganisation of districts, home minister N Narasimha Reddy said in the State Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.

In this regard, Narasimha Reddy moved the Cyberabad (Metropolitan Area) Police (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in the State Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.

Participating in the debate, members A Revanth Reddy (TDP) and NVVS Prabhakar (BJP) said they had two to three ASPs or deputy SPs in their Assembly segments. They demanded that each Assembly segment be brought under one ASP limit. The members demanded that till the formation of new districts, the Cyberabad Bill should be kept in abeyance.

Replying to the members, Narasimha Reddy said Cyberabad’s bifurcation was done on administrative grounds and the change of jurisdiction of police limits would take place after the creation of new districts.
