On May 4, 2024, former India cricketer Parthiv Patel slammed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and called him the "most overrated" player in the IPL.

Patel's comment on Maxwell came after the end of RCB's match against Gujarat Titans at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, where Maxwell scored just four runs from three balls at a strike rate of 133.33.

Parthiv was subjected to massive trolling all over social media with people calling him out for his ‘short height’.

"I think there are certain players; they flourish in a certain atmosphere. I think, sometimes, you do not put a lot of pressure on them; you just allow that player to be what they are, and sometimes that makes a big difference to the player psyche," Parthiv said on Star Sports show Game Plan in 2021.

On May 22, 2024, RCB explosive batter Glenn Maxwell went down in the history book for an unwanted record in the Indian Premier League.

In the eliminator against RR, a carrom ball from the Ashwin lured Maxwell into opening his arms for a big shot. He slogged it straight to Dhruv Jurel and returned to the dugout with a golden duck.

This marked the 18th occasion when Maxwell returned to the dressing room with a duck. With a tally of 18, Maxwell holds the record of the joint-highest ducks in the IPL with his compatriot Dinesh Karthik.

On April 16, Maxwell revealed that he requested RCB management to omit him from the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), seeking a "mental and physical break" following a challenging beginning to his IPL 2024.

Regarded as the 'Big Show' in the IPL, Maxwell turned out to be the biggest disappointment for Royal Challengers Bengaluru this season.
