Automobile major Mahindra and Mahindra is still looking at niche market and something which is close to its heart. The company recently launched a limited edition Adventure Thar Edition. Ammar Alvi finds out.
For Mahindra and Mahindra, the Thar is an iconic SUV and the company continues to update and refresh the model. The company recently launched a limited edition Thar offroader—the Mahindra Thar Adventure Edition. Only 30 units of this will be built, and the new vehicle will be sold only through select dealerships.
What is so limited about the mode? The Thar Adventure Edition gets an all-new Java Brown paint scheme. It also sports an Adventure wrap across the side body. The wrap is made up of a map and compass. It also gets new headlamps, tail lamps and chaff screen for a more rugged look. On the inside, the Adventure Edition gets black seat covers with orange piping, a new centre console, 2D map and compass and moulded floor mats.
The Adventure Edition will continue to come equipped with the same 2.5-litre diesel engine that churns out 105PS of power and 247Nm of torque as the regular Thar. The 5-speed gearbox is also carried over from the standard model.
Mahindra has not revealed the pricing for the Adventure Edition yet but it should be around Rs 35,000-40,000 more than the regular Thar which retails at `7.17 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Get, set and off-road!
