Ian Callum, the head of design at Jaguar, is a happy man. His latest design, the all-new Jaguar XE, has won the most coveted title of the World’s Most Beautiful Car of 2014. As you may recall, the F-Type is a sight for sore eyes and the Jaguar XE revealed late last year is also quite an attractive sedan.
The XE picked up the coveted design award at the 30th Festival Automobile International in Paris. It faced stiff competition from the Mazda MX-5, Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate and the Fiat 500X. The award is decided by a public vote, with more than 100,000 votes cast across 59 countries. The XE won it with 28 percent of the votes. It will be coming to India by early 2016 to take on the likes of the BMW 3-series, new Mercedes-Benz C-class and theAudi A4. Till now Jaguar didn’t have a sedan in this range to take the fight to the big German three in a segment that has potential for high numbers. Jaguar has got the design spot on with a good mix of Jaguar family design cues in all its major elements.
