Maruti Suzuki Ready to Showcase Ignis at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show 2015

Maruti Suzuki is all set to reveal its new vehicle Ignis at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show 2015. Earlier it was showcased in the concept form as iM-4 at the Geneva Motor Show along with the iK-2 concept which will be seen in the form of upcoming Baleno hatchback. The new car is not so rugged looking but gets the urban crossover design, there is not much information about the Japanese vehicle but will surely help the car maker to foray in the competitive auto market. The vehicle is among the 15 cars that the company announced to launch in India in coming times.

Talking about the exterior, new Ignis is attractive looking, the front sports wider radiator grille, cleaner bumper and projector headlamps with the daylight running lights. The vehicle will get clam-shell like bonnet and encapsulated headlights. On the side profile, new Ignis sports 18-inch 10 spoke alloy wheels and blacked out A and B pillars.

Coming to the interiors, the car has a spacious cabin with the dual-tone dashboard. Various features in the car are borrowed from the Suzuki vehicles. For the entertainment, one will get a Tablet-Like touchscreen system which is placed at the center of the dashboard, it will be equipped with the SmartPlay system and Apple CarPlay system. The steering wheel in the vehicle is very smartly designed which are currently placed in Ciaz and other Maruti vehicles.

Talking about the engine specification, new Ignis might get 1.0 litres turbocharged BoosterJet engine, the mill is probably to be there in global models, may be in India as well. On the other hand, there are chances that it might get 1.2-litre petrol motor from Swift while it may also share 1.3 litre SHVS mild hybrid from Ciaz.

The launch of the new Ignis will most probably take place next year. The company by introducing Ignis wants to bridge the gap between leisure life and daily life. The feature that makes this car practical is that it now comes with impressive ground clearance which helps the vehicle to ride on the tough terrains with ease, yet there is little possibility for the car to come on Indian shores.

Mr. Toshiro Suzuki, president of Suzuki Motor Corporation said that they have the ambitious plan of launching 20 new car models in the country. He also added that leaving the Kei-Jidosha (cars for Japanese market) they are bringing all the car models to the Indian market. Likewise Baleno, Ignis will also be a global product.

The company at present working hard with the new project, that is Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the car is expected to be launched in the month of October 2015. The new Baleno is based on Maruti’s new platform and is quite tough and good looking car.

Maruti will also be launching a new sub-4 meter SUV that will lock horns with the likes of Mahindra TUV300, Ford Ecosport and upcoming Mahindra Crossover S101.
