It seems BMW India has upped the ante in its performance portfolio this year. The carmaker has released another set of performance cars in the market. The new BMW X6M and BMW X5M model have been launched at a price of INR 1.60 Crore and INR 1.55 Crore respectively. Both the performance SUVs are brought to the Indian market to give a boost to company’s image and garner more sales in the festive season. BMW has brought its performance cars before as well which include M4 sedan, M4 coupe, M3 sedan and M6 Gran Coupe. Both the vehicles X6M and X5m will come to Indian shores via CBU route and will be sold by the BMWs M Studio.
The car maker made subtle changes in the performance cars to make them look different from their standard version named as X5 and X6. BMW, the Bavarian car manufacturer has included several external features in both the cars to make it sportier. At the front, car receives kidney-shaped grille which is redesigned and also gets large air intake section. The features include M steering wheel, different body kit and many other aspects from the car maker M division. The steering wheel can be set up in comfort, sport+ and Sports modes to change the performance of the cars. On the side, the car features 21-inch alloy wheels. Inside, both the car features Heads-up display and iDrive Infotainment unit.
Under the bonnet, both the cars works on a same 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 engine that can produce the power output of 575 PS and maximum torque of 750Nm. The motor is mated to 8-speed manual transmission and transfers the power to all 4-wheels through BMW’s xDrive system. The vehicles can go from 0-100 kmph mark in mere 4.2 seconds reaching the top speed of 250 kmph.
Both the SUVs will compete against Porsche Cayenne Turbo, Mercedes-Benz GL 63 AMG and Range Rover SVR. The SUVs in the UK are available with the starting price of INR 87.79 lac for X5M and INR 90.62 lac for X6M.
BMW is the big German car brand which no doubt don’t want to lag behind in performance car segment as its rival too are coming up various offerings. All these are further contributing to the customers delight as the festive season is fast approaching. Audi recently launched RS5, RS6 Avant, TT, RS7 and R8 while Mercedes-Benz on the other hand, introduced in Ah My God! AMG line-up.
Recently, BMW also launched new M6 Gran Coupe in the country at the sticker price of INR 1.71 Crore. The cars were launched from the latest M studio in Mumbai. This is the first showroom of BMW in the country that is committed to sell ‘M’ or performance versions of the cars. The car will come in India via CBU route. The vehicle is available in nine different metallic shades they are San Marino Blue, Alpine White, Silverstone, Black Sapphire, Space Grey, Sakhir Orange, Singapore Grey, Jatoba and Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect.
