Moving money legally between countries is time-consuming, cumbersome and more than anything, very expensive. In the age of the smartphones, new-age financial tech companies are out to solve all those problems, and the most popular option is Transferwise, which lets one transfer money with the touch of a button on the smartphone and also lets you save a lot of money that way.

While its sleek app and super cheap transfer fees are what are visible to the customers, the man behind the app is Harsh Sinha, the vice-president of engineering at Transferwise. Sinha has a B.Tech degree in Computer Engineering from the Sikkim Manipal University, a master’s degree in the same discipline from the San Fransisco State University and an MBA from the Walter A Haas School of Business at the University of California in Berkeley. After a short stint at Tata Consultancy Services as a software developer, he joined global e-commerce giant eBay and grew up in the ranks over a decade to become the Director of Software Engineering and eventually the Director of Product at another financial tech giant, Paypal. After leading the company’s mobile foundation project, which integrated the services mobile experiences across various platforms, he joined Transferwise last year to help bring about the revolution that the company is promising, in the Fin-Tech sector.
