CHENNAI: The Regional Coal Consumers Council (RCCC), set up by the Coal Ministry to look into the grievances of the consumers, met at NLC Corporate Office on Tuesday.

A R Ansari, Chairman and Managing Director, Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC), who heads the council, highlighted the efforts and procedure adopted by NLC in the sale of lignite after the internal consumption for its power plants.

Ansari said that it is difficult to supply lignite at fixed price due to high stripping ratio and ground water control.

“NLC would be following its policy in the sale of raw lignite keeping in mind the welfare of the industries particularly small and tiny units,” he said.

During the discussions, the members and consumer representatives suggested controlling the price variation to the maximum possible extent,  focusing on supply through Fuel Supply Agreement, and increasing the lifting time of lignite.

NLC has introduced the e-auction method in the sale of raw lignite for its consumers.   At present, 10 big industries and 57 small and tiny industries have been participating in the e-auction of the sale of lignite.
