ITC Limited on Friday reported a 21.3% on year rise in net profit at Rs 1,836.42 crore for the second quarter ended September 30.
It had posted net profit of Rs 1,514.31 crore for the July-September period of last fiscal. Net sales surged to Rs 7,146 crore in the second quarter from Rs 5,974.18 crore during the corresponding period of 2011-12 fiscal.
The company’s FMCG business including, cigarettes and other products, rose 17.8% in net sales to Rs 5,075.95 crore as against Rs 4,308.80 crore during the same period of 2011-12 fiscal.
ITC’s sales from the cigarette vertical increased by 14.04% during the second quarter at Rs 3,385.15 crore as against Rs 2,968.14 crore in the same period of previous fiscal. “ ...The company’s cigarettes business through its relentless focus on providing differentiated and world-class products to consumers sustained its leadership position in the industry,” the company said. The hotels segment posted net sales of Rs 216.96 crore as against Rs 211.14 crore in the same period of 2011-12.
