Royal Enfield to launch Continental GT

Chennai-based Royal Enfield is all set to launch the much anticipated Continental GT (Café Racer) today. The motorcycle, which made its first appearance in the 2012 Auto Expo, is a café racer inspired model. Royal Enfield also claims that the model is their fastest production motorcycle.

The Continental GT houses a single cylinder 525cc engine; fuel injected and produces 29 BHP and a healthy 44 Nm of torque. Inspired by the Café Racer model, the Continental GT will be appreciated more for its stable mannerisms and handling prowess than its raw power. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and has a top whack of 140 KMPH.  Expected fuel efficiency is 25 KMPL.

The motorcycle is manufactured in Royal Enfield’s Oragadam plant in Chennai and is expected to be priced around the 2.5 lakh mark, and will be the costliest among other RE models. RE also plans to launch the motorcycle with a two-seater option and ABS.
