KOCHI: Inspite of humble beginnings, Cloudex Healthcare Solutions, a startup company at Startup Village got its first big break from district hospitals in Kasargod and Kannur. Though these hospitals had CT machines they couldn’t run it for an year as it was unaffordable for them to appoint a full-time radiologist. At this juncture, Team Cloudex Healthcare seized the opportunity to change things and approached them with the teleradiology solution which helped them to provide the best reported and peer reviewed diagnosis on time. Since then, there was no looking back for the company.
Cloudex Healthcare Solutions provides radiology reporting services to hospitals and medical imaging centres online using cloud based technology. Their current client list includes Government District Hospitals, Tertiary Cancer Centre, a Medical College and few private medical imaging centres. Cloudex was started by Dr Sinewraz and Younus Rehman in 2012.
The company provides teleradiology services to hospitals and imaging centres. Teleradiology is the transmission of radiology images (like CT, MRI scans) via internet for the purpose of reporting. Radiologists receive cases from different hospitals and report it remotely using cloud software. Cloudex Healthcare was selected as one of the ‘Top 10 Startups to watch out for in 2013’ award by Startup Village in Kochi. Now the company plans to expand its operations to Africa where there is an opportunity for teleradiology.
“While working in Manipal hospital, Dr Sinewraz realised the necessity of teleradiology in India. The number of radiologists is proportionally very less compared to the imaging graph. This was making it difficult for patients to get radiology readings on time. It was then he realised that teleradiology could fix this problem,” Younus Rehman reveals how they capitalised on the opportunity. When asked about any take-away advice for wannabe entrepreneurs, Dr Sinewraz said that there are plenty of opportunities in developing markets. “Today the startup ecosystem is getting very mature in India. Budding entrepreneurs should identify opportunities, make use of the ecosystem and hit the market fast. Dedication and planning are the keys to success,” he signs off.
