With life expectancy rising and a changing lifestyle removing most adults from home to day jobs, giving quality care to the elderly, the bedridden and sick members of the family is fast becoming a conundrum to most modern families. The slack, however, is being taken up by a crop of startups like Care24.
“The present healthcare system lacks the structure and transparency to help people at critical and stressful time,’’ says Vipin Pathak CEO & Co Founder Care24.
Care24 is a Mumbai-based home health care startup founded in 2014 by Vipin Pathak, Abhishek Tiwari and Garima Tripathi. What Care24 offers is personal affordable healthcare assistance within the comforts of the customer’s own home. “It was these personal tribulations that really lit the fire and inspired us to start Care24,” said Pathak.
Among its ‘offerings’ are skilled and experienced nurses, attendants, caregivers, physiotherapists, aayhas and wardboys for post-discharge care, bedridden care, chronic pain care, physiotherapy, infant care, pre-natal and post-natal care, everyday medical nursing, long term care and assisted daily living. “We currently operate as a platform that connects patients to the right caregivers, who are on board after going through a stringent verification and training process,” said Pathak.
The model on which it works is simple. It doesn’t just put customers who need to hire specialised help in touch with caregivers but actually ensures reliability, since in modern families, when the promised help doesn’t show up, everything gets thrown out of gear. Care24 has in place a feedback system that filters unreliable caregivers from its platforms.
All its customers need to do to avail Care24 services is drop their contact details at the website of the startup. Post which a customer care executive gets in touch with them, a core team then identifies the nature of the problem and the right caregiver who can address the situation. A visit is then scheduled at a convenient date and time, and, finally, a right caregiver lands on your doorstep. “Care24 is boosting its service quality, deepening its offerings while tapping the healthcare sector using technology innovations - to provide an integrated patient care,” he said.
Currently, operational all over Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Vasai -Virar and Kalyan, the company plans to further expand in the city and suburbs. “…we will expand our operations in South region too,’’ said Pathak.
VC support is not difficult if business is fundamentally strong and provides value. “For us value proposition and team became the strength and funding was very easy,” said Pathak.
Apart from care the treatment, counselling, emotional support and products are moves towards providing 360 degree support to patient and family.
