Even though the ruling of telecom regulator Trai to provide one rupee compensation to consumers for every call drop which comes into effect from January 1, 2016, the regulatory body can not take any coercive steps against telecom companies if they don’t comply with the order.

 

Think Before You Spend, Taxman is on the Prowl

As per Central Board of Direct Taxes’ missive, furnishing PAN is mandatory for cash payments exceeding a certain threshold for 20 types of transactions beginning New Year. The move is aimed at curbing the black money menace.

 

From Friday, national carrier Air India will start serving hot vegetarian meals for economy class on all its domestic flights with a duration of 61-90 minutes. However, the full-cost carrier will stop serving tea or coffee during lunch/dinner flights.

Deadline Ends Analog Signals on Last Lap

New Delhi: With the deadline for phase III of cable tv digitisation in cities across the country coming to an end on Dec 31, most of the tv viewing homes would have shifted to digital signal. Though, the deadline will not be revised, but those households which are yet to shift to set top boxes will get time to shift fast. Sources said, owing to availability of set top boxes nearly 80 percent of the tv homes had shifted to digital mode. Sources said, though MSO's have been asked to shift to digital mode, they are likely to continue to beam analog signals till the transition was fully achieved.
